Earlier bowl game sends players to Shreveport for Christmas

Unlike the mantra in the popular holiday carol, the Georgia football team won’t be home for Christmas this year, as players will miss time with their families to spend the holiday season with their second family – their team.

Following a 7-5 season, the worst of head coach Mark Richt’s tenure at Georgia, the Dogs were sent to the Independence Bowl, requiring them to miss Christmas for the first time under Richt – a revelation none too pleasing to his team.
