Recontruction forges ahead into new year

Plans are approved to rebuild the Georgia Theatre after the June 19 fire.

The cause of the fire was never determined but originated in a dressing room and closet. The blaze lasted hours and took more than 50 firefighters to extinguish.

Owner Wilmot Greene presented a rebuild proposal to the county Historic Preservation Commission, whose members unanimously approved the plan.
