Over the centuries, American music has become a melting pot of sounds and influences from a variety of countries, cultures and backgrounds. Appalachian folk music has roots in traditional European songs, zydeco in French music and rock ‘n’ roll in an ever-evolving mash-up of sounds from across the globe.
